I am always buying new tape measures for no good reason other than I love to evaluate and compare them all.

I recently had the opportunity to learn how to shingle a house in coastal Maine alongside a wonderful and slightly curmudgeonly master carpenter. I’m always scoping people’s tapes on site, and I was intrigued to see that my shingle sensai’s tape of choice was a Stanley 12’. A wee bit petite I thought. Especially since most guys were rockin’ out with 30’ FatMaxes.

I started packin’ my own 12’ Powerlock and it didn’t take long to appreciate its nimble size! A true joy to use. It’s really the only tape you can comfortably put in your pocket too. This is really the perfect tape to keep in your glovebox or take on trips if you just absolutely must know the dimensions of the walk in shower you’ve been enjoying so much.
